چکیده

Abstract Purpose Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) play a key role in medicinal plant species, besides their ecological shaping communities. Knowledge about the diversity and structure of AMF communities associated with endangered Prunus fricana is valuable conservation domestication species for its products. Methods We investigated rhizosphere soils P. africana trees occurring four fragmented Afromontane forests found Cameroon (Mount Mount Manengouba) Kenya (Chuka Malava) using Illumina Miseq sequencing 18S rRNA gene amplicons. Results A total 64 virtual taxa (VT) belonging to eight genera were detected, namely Glomus (43 VT), Claroideoglomus (6 Paraglomus (5 Acaulospora (4 Diversispora (3 Archaeospora , Pacispora Scutellospora 1 VT each. heterogama VTX00286 was most abundant common all sites (49.62%). Glomeraceae Gigasporaceae families across sites, while Acaulosporaceae, Pacisporaceae, Archaeosporaceae rare, represented by < 1% detected taxa. Conclusion Our data shows high variable community partially shaped local edaphic factors.

Diversity of Rhizosphere Soil Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Various Soybean Cultivars under Different Continuous Cropping Regimes

Recent studies have shown that continuous cropping in soybean causes substantial changes to the microbial community in rhizosphere soil. In this study, we investigated the effects of continuous cropping for various time periods on the diversity of rhizosphere soil arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in various soybean cultivars at the branching stage. The soybean cultivars Heinong 37 (an intermed...

Caspian Coastal Forests: Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Understory Vegetation

Moist and temperate Caspian forests are associated with a diversity of soil types and topography.  Although, natural history and ecological attributes of the Caspian vegetation is well-documented, little is known about mycorrhizae of the Caspian (Hyrcanian) flora. Samples of herbaceous plant species were collected from 4 pre-determined altitudes (-13 upto about 1500m above sea level, appro...

Role of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Phytoremediation of Soil Rhizosphere Spiked with Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons

Results from an innovative approach to improve remediation in the rhizosphere by encouraging healthy plant growth and thus enhancing microbial activity are reported. The effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (Am) on remediation efficacy of wheat, mungbean and eggplant grown in soil spiked with polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) was assessed in a pot experiment. The results of this study showed th...

Prunus persica Crop Management Differentially Promotes Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Diversity in a Tropical Agro-Ecosystem

Due to the important role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in ecosystem functioning, determination of the effect of management practices on the AMF diversity in agricultural soils is essential for the sustainability of these agro-ecosystems. The objective of this study was to compare the AMF diversity in Prunus persica roots under two types of fertilisation (inorganic, with or without manu...

DNA barcoding of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.

SUMMARY *Currently, no official DNA barcode region is defined for the Fungi. The COX1 gene DNA barcode is difficult to apply. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region has been suggested as a primary barcode candidate, but for arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF; Glomeromycota) the region is exceptionably variable and does not resolve closely related species. *DNA barcoding analyses were perfo...
